As the year comes to a close, I’ve been thinking about everything that’s happened, some good, some not so good. This is my quiet 2024 round-up.
Making Stuff
I didn’t get around to as much drawing as I’d hoped (as usual!), though I did do a few doodles in September.
I upgraded my desk in April ✨
I also finally managed to install a solar panel on the van. There’s a vague plan to renovate the garage next year, but that’s still a work in progress.
Trips and Days Out
I made a few trips this year:
- A short family visit to York in March.
- Another trip back to Deganwy in August.
- A local day hike with friends in September.
- In November, I tried archery for my birthday and went on a short trip to London with work.
Nothing too crazy, but a good mix of stuff.
Challenges
2024 wasn’t the easiest; may was especially rough. It started with my first ever ambulance trip - which turned out to be tonsillitis. Then just a couple weeks later, acute appendicitis requiring immediate surgery. Just as I was starting to recover from the op, I developed jaundice and spent most of June visiting hospital and slowly getting back on my feet. They do say these things come in threes.
December brought the hardest part, Kamino, our cat, passed away. This is still sinking in, he’s deeply missed.
To finish off the year, the whole family was hit with Norovirus (iykyk) - starting Christmas Day and lasting for about a week. Not the best way to spend the holiday.
Family Moments
Among everything, there were some highlights though. My second son’s naming ceremony in the Lake District in July was a great day with close family and friends. I saw my eldest’s first School Nativity, which was amazing.
The last sunrise of 2024
It’s been a year of highs and lows. But here’s to 2025, with hopes for less downs and more good times!
